When St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital opened its doors in Memphis, Tennessee in 1957, the survival rate for the most common type of childhood cancer, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), was less than 5%. With a selfless love for all children and the passionate belief “that no child should die in the dawn of life,” entertainer Danny Thomas found his reason for being and established St. Jude Hospital on faith and a shoestring budget, naming it for the Patron Saint of Hopeless Causes. Fifty years later, St. Jude is recognized as the world leader in the research and treatment of catastrophic diseases in children, freely sharing its findings with hospitals and doctors around the globe. And, today, the survival rate for ALL is approaching 95%. Although Danny is gone now, his dream lives on, and St. Jude Hospital continues to provide treatment for children and support for their families without regard for race, religion or ability to pay.

Today, St. Jude needs $1.3 million per day to continue its life-saving treatment and research, and it relies on donations that average $25.09 – gifts of love from everyday people like you and us who love children and want them to have their chance for a healthy and happy life. Thank you for helping us to help St. Jude’s Kids.
